Aline Mayer received her MFA in New Genres at the San Francisco Art Institute in 1991. In 2009 she graduated from the UC Irvine Program in Appraisal Studies. She joined forces with Michelene Stankus Art Advisory and Appraisal Services in 2011 and worked in the Bay Area undertaking Project Reports appraising the works of such artists as Wayne Thiebaud, Robert Bechtle, Richard Diebenkorn, Sol LeWitt, Mark Bradford, and David Hammons and the photography of Ruth Bernhard, Paul Strand, Jay DeFeo, Diane Arbus, the estate of Pirkle Jones, among others.
She founded Aline Mayer and Associates shortly after moving to Los Angeles in 2013 and has been working steadily in the Fine Art Appraisal business providing a wide range of services for collectors, dealers, curators, attorneys and galleries ever since.
Michelene Stankus has over 30 years experience as a fine art professional with expertise in modern, post-war and contemporary fine art and photography. She is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) in Fine Art for the American Society of Appraisers, has an MA in Museum Studies from John F. Kennedy University, San Francisco and is a graduate with Appraisal Studies and Connoisseurship Certification from University of California, Irvine. Continuing education keeps her current in the fine art market, appraisal standards as well as legal and governmental changes. She travels broadly to stay abreast of art market trends and valuations.
Michelene has held professional positions and directorships at Bank of America Art Program, John Berggruen Gallery, Roselyne Swig Art Services, ArtWorks Management and the prestigious Gump’s Gallery. She has formed, curated and managed major international art and photography collections. She has worked with major auction houses to value and prepare multi-million dollar art collections for sale.
